A Moment in Greece

We rarely hit up LES, but when we do, we don’t want to leave because there are many hidden gems like this small Greek restaurant Souvlaki GR.  The setting of the restaurant resembles the magical island of Mykonos with whitewashed walls and deep turquoise doors. Along with the sheer white walls, it hangs vines of intertwining pink flowers and luscious green leaves. As I look up, I see strings of fluorescent light bulbs swinging above our heads again giving us an illusion that we are really in a small village in Greece.

Alfa Beer, $7
OPA! There is no way to start a Greek meal without alcohol! As a newbie to Greek beverages, I took the recommendation of the waiter and tried the Alfa beer, which was a good choice! Very light and refreshing!

Spanakopita (Spinach Pie), $10

Light, fluffy yet crispy. Every bite filled my mouth with warm gooey feta cheese and spinach leading me from one bite to another until every crumb was annihilated!
Kalamakia Paketo (6 chicken or pork skewers), $17

Savory and mouthwatering. The carefully grilled chicken and pork skewers were cooked in direct heat until the meats become juicy, tender, and flavorful leaving us no choice…but to give them no mercy. The addition of the fresh lemon and tzatziki sauces further enhanced the irresistible flavors of the skewers.
Hand-cut Fries, $6

Simple, Greek-styled fries. It was our first time trying Greek fries, and our experience was okay – nothing too memorable. We would prefer crispy American-styled French fries with a side of ketchup.

Those lights kept me wondering.

Hit the Spot: 8/10
The ambiance undoubtedly played a major role in this meal. We felt very relaxed and comfortable in this laid-back yet cozy atmosphere. Setting us in such a great mood, our appetite opened up and enjoyed every bite of the meal!
