Rainbows and Unicorns

When you hear rainbows and unicorns, can you guess which ice cream shop we’re at? Yup, it’s the famous Big Gay Ice Cream shop that started as an ice cream truck in 2009 but expanded into two shops in the Villages (one in West, one in East).

We’ve been here several times and have always gotten the SALTY PIMP! It’s our FAVORITE! This time around, we decided to try some new flavors and chose the Rocky Roadhouse, Bea Arthur, and American Globs! Besides their specialty cones, they also serve sundaes, shakes, and other delicious frozen treats!

Rocky Roadhouse ($5.74)

Flora wanted get her usual fave Salty Pimp, but when she saw a customer holding the fun-looking Rocky Roadhouse consisting of chocolate soft serve, toasted almond, marshmallows, and chocolate chips, her mind changed and decided to go for it too. The assorted textures of crisp almond chunks, soft and gooey marshmallows, and crunchy chocolate chips added depth to the simple soft serve. However, upon halfway into the ice cream, it became a little too sweet.
American Globs ($5.74)

The American Globs made of vanilla soft serve dipped in chocolate with sea salt and chocolate pretzels was HEAVENLY and devoured within a few bites! The combination of the bold dark chocolate complemented very well with simple vanilla, and the chocolate crunch added a nice texture. The taste of sweet and salty is always the best!
Bea Arthur ($5.74)
The Bea Arthur is vanilla based with dulce de leche and crushed Nilla wafers. It’s sweet and simple! It’s a perfect light snack after a meal.

Hit the Spot: 7.5/10

Big Gay Ice Cream, thanks for a satisfying treat! :)
